America’s 250th Birthday | Farm-to-Table Gratitude from NowFarms
As America celebrates its 250th birthday, we pause with deep gratitude for the life we are able to build here—and the communities that make it possible.
There is something powerful about a country where small family businesses can grow, where farmers can work the land with care and independence, and where food can still be connected to soil, season, and purpose.
We are grateful for the freedom to build a family business rooted in these values, and for the privilege of working alongside incredible Amish and Mennonite farming families who steward the land with integrity and quiet dedication. Together, we bring fresh, nourishing food directly from their fields to your table each week.
Our team comes from the former USSR, South Africa, the Dominican Republic, and Guatemala. We come from very different places and life experiences, and we do not take for granted what this country represents. We are deeply grateful for the freedom, opportunity, and spirit of free enterprise that allows small businesses like ours—and so many others—to grow, contribute, and thrive together.
Most of all, we are grateful for you. Every order you place supports local family farms, hardworking farmers, our packing team, and the dedicated drivers who bring your food home with care.
This week, we especially want to recognize our drivers. During this extreme heat wave, they have been working long days in delivery vans with broken air conditioning. It hasn’t been easy, yet they continue to serve with patience, kindness, and commitment. Your support is now helping us take the next step toward replacing these aging vans, so they can work in safer, more comfortable conditions. We are deeply grateful to be moving in that direction together as a community.
This Week’s Harvest — A Farm-to-Table Collection
In honor of this season of gratitude and celebration, we are also sharing this week’s harvest—a reminder of what it means to eat simply, seasonally, and well.
From rich, living soil and sun-drenched fields comes a collection of food at its peak—fresh, honest, and full of life.
Crisp pickling cucumbers, perfect for preserving summer. New young red potatoes with their delicate earthiness still intact. Green cabbage, zucchini, and green and yellow string beans—simple, vibrant, and full of flavor.
Fresh garlic and sweet young onions bring depth and aroma to every kitchen. Sugar peas offer natural sweetness and crunch, while red beets and ripe tomatoes carry the color and warmth of the season. Green onions and mixed greens complete the table with freshness and balance.
A touch of something wild and nostalgic—rhubarb—brings brightness and tradition in equal measure.
And from the water, wild-caught fish—clean, pure, and unadorned, the way real food is meant to be.
This is what we mean when we say farm-to-table: not a trend, but a way of life rooted in respect—for land, for animals, for farmers, and for the people who gather around the table.
