I don't know if you are lucky enough to have kids that demand Prime hydration drinks, we are :)

The obsession is real. Good marketing, I really have something to learn from them, great job! 

Anyhow, after giving in a couple of times and making our 10 year old very happy, I refuse to continue supporting this trend. 

We just fasted for 9 of Av - the saddest day in Jewish calendar, 2 temples were destroyed, along with many other very dark events for Jewish people  over the years).  A 25 hour dry fast. 

Being a coffee addict, it was very difficult this time, as Tuesday was very long and intense day, I live on coffee... 

Didn't have a chance to wean myself slowly. Needles to say, huge headache, but at least had a luxury of staying home and even took a nap. It was a mourning day, so I guess being uncomfortable was very appropriate... 

Now, of course back to coffee, but making sure I do include electrolytes as well. Here is the easiest, much cheaper recipe, and tastes really good too. 

The Best Electrolyte Drink For Rehydrating After A Fast

The gist of this recipe is simple: one part juice to two parts water, freshly squeezed lemon, and a pinch of Himalayan salt.

The reason we call this a hydration drink is because it contains key components for hydration: sodium, potassium, vitamin C, and electrolytes. We actually refer to this as “healthy Gatorade” in my house!

Breaking Down the Benefits of Each Ingredient

Grape Juice– contains potassium and electrolytes
Salt– is responsible for keeping the sodium in your blood cells, and will prevent you from becoming dehydrated. Himalayan salt contains trace minerals such as magnesium, calcium, and potassium.
Fresh Lemon– provides electrolytes, vitamin C, and even potassium.

And now for the recipe!

The Best Electrolyte Drink Recipe

1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon salt (I use Himalayan pink salt)

1/2 a lemon, or 1 and 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice

2 cups grape juice (I use Kedem Light)
4 cups water or seltzer (preferably chilled)

In a medium-sized pitcher, pour in the salt, followed by the lemon juice. Next, add the grape juice and water (or seltzer). Stir to dissolve the salt. Enjoy!

The meat is deeply frozen, and in the coolers in our refrigerator vans. It should be cold enough, but as the weather warms up, please let us know if you are not home soon enough after delivery. Leave a cooler with ice packs/ice - and we'll drop of your package with there. If it's not possible, please let us know and we'll pack an ice pack with your order. Please return clean ice packs to us. Earth Day is EVRY DAY! Let's not create more waste. Yes, we can reuse all those fancy subscription meals delivered to you packaging :)
