Microgreens are here! We are excited!

Hello dear friends!

Spring is here for sure, hope you are enjoying it to the fullest!

We are so excited to introduce you to Back Yard Micro - a local brand new family owned business! They are growing organic and sustainable microgreens for us!

We truly believe we are what we eat. Food is our medicine, which is why microgreens are the way to go. Microgreens are nutritionally dense. They contain potassium, iron, zinc, magnesium and copper. They are a great preventative measure towards many health ailments. Studies on broccoli microgreens show it contains up to 40% more nutrients than mature broccoli. That is typical of all microgreens. Their high nutrient content can help reduce high blood pressure, improve digestion, strengthen bone, fight off pathogens, improve eyesight, even balance hormones, just to name a few. Yes, please give me ten bundles of that! Not only are they a natural and functional food, but they also add a pop of elegance to any dish. Your kids would even love them. My son would mostly recommend a microgreen salad and smoothies.

Why choose Back Yard Micro as your microgreen supplier? You truly are getting quality food. We do not use any harsh chemicals or pesticides. The water used on our crops is distilled, we don’t even want fluoride in our crops. We put a whole lot of love in what we do. All seeds are Non-GMO and organic. Our growing medium is also an organic mixture of Pro-Mix and coconut coir peat moss. Best part of our crops, they are grown indoors. Urban indoor farming is a controlled environment, permitting us to grow to order.

A little intro from the owner Back Yard Micro.

"Thank you for your interest in Back Yard Micro. Hello, I am Marianne SanMiguel owner of Back Yard Micro. I began this journey of growing my own food, for several reasons. For starters, I just was not finding the right foods at mainstream grocery stores, that felt “right” to me. To find food that was healthy, affordable, and didn’t spoil quickly, seemed to be a bit of a challenge. Especially, with the current events taking place during 2020. We were prompted to begin questioning our ability to become more self reliant. I couldn’t help but be reminded of my childhood dream of having my own homestead. A homestead, that I knew exactly where my food comes from, how it is grown and cultivated, and it would not harm Mother Earth in any kind of way. So, I decided to take my holistic lifestyle a step further while making my dreams come true. At the same time, inspire and include my family on this beautiful venture! You truly can be self reliant about your health and food. As the chaos in the outside world continued, the urge to grow our own food was all too loud to ignore. Covid reminded us, timing could not have been any more perfect to start growing! Prior to the pandemic, we had already been in the practice of healthy eating. However, during the pandemic the drive to eat even cleaner was even stronger. Unfortunately, as the pandemic continued to increase, so did inflation. All the while the quality of food and availability declined. Did anyone else notice that? And so… Back Yard Micro was born. The pandemic did not only test our abilities in becoming more self reliant but it also fueled the beginning workings toward a dream of having a homestead. A homestead that not only can feed my family, but also provides food that is: clean, affordable, natural, and nutritionally dense to surrounding communities. That is our goal, it is our dream!"
