A note about frozen meat. And what is food :)
Is fresh better? Is frozen OK?
Yes, we are always striving for the best for our families.
What is the best?
We only work with small organic family owned farms.
They raise the animals for us.
The animals are pastured and the herd is VERY small, from 1 to 5 cows!
The animals are treated with a lot of care and respect!
Saying all that, they are raised for meat and slaughtered as needed.
Sorry vegans, you might want to skip this paragraph all together, but it's important to understand where your vegan food comes from too.
Meaning, there is no processing on a daily, weekly, or even monthly basis! Therefore, the meat is being frozen right away.
And kept in a deep freezer right until it gets to you.
This is the only way we can sustainably support real pastured, top notch meat processing.
It's the same with poultry, the only exception is Mountaineer Farm, sometimes they process poultry right before we pick it up, this is the only meat that we could get not frozen.
We have nothing to with Ghetto conventional farms, that's where non-frozen meat available.
Unfortunately, organic meat includes in that category too.
Most of the organic meat that you see in supermarkets are from ghetto farms, where animals are constantly on the conveyer. Their very short existence on earth is not really better than conventional farms. The only difference is that the animals are getting less chemicals in their feed. They are labeled organic, but if the cow is sick and needs antibiotic, they are not labeled organic anymore..
That is why we are so grateful for our incredible farmers!
And that is why we will do anything in our power to support them.
Especially Burkholder's farm, where Alvin is talking, praying, and singing to his animals, and plants too.
This is beyond any organic label!
To have an access to this incredible food is always a blessing, but especially now! So, next time you are at Whole Foods or shopping for your food (vegan as well) at the supermarket, please remember this.
You are what you eat, and we are all connected, plants, animals, land, farmers... You want to be happy and healthy, think where your food is coming from...
Trace all the steps back.
Who plants the seeds (where the seeds are coming from),
the fields - is the land worked with respect, are the fields monoculture or permaculture?
Is there life in the fields and over the fields (it's pretty dead on GMO-fields). Is the the land gets any rest?
Who plants the plants?
Are those people happy, or machines plant it?
And that is just your plant based food...
Animals - is even more complex...
Raising animals for food, processing them, packing...
That is why we are making sure that even your drivers are people that support our mission!
That is why we do what we do.
That is why we LOVE what we do...
The food is medicine, and your emotional, spiritual well-being too, not just physical. It's beyond the cellular level...
I thought that a little explanation would be helpful...

Any food we sell frozen has a stop expiration date while frozen. Best Sold by dates are recommended best sell by, but are NOT considered expired. We pride ourselves on fresh products.
